Manchester United need serious help in the middle of the park. Credit where it’s due, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is trying to fix that problem – but to no avail thus far.
Anyway, the Red Devils have seemingly identified Bruno Fernandes as an obtainable transfer target during January. Now, according to a report from The Telegraph, it feels like that move is edging ever-closer.
Apparently, personal terms have been agreed with the 25-year-old with the Baby Faced Assassin looking to make the Portuguese his fourth signing as United boss.
The deal now rests on the club to agree a price for Fernandes, with United hoping to sign the Sporting Lisbon man for around £50million – while Sporting want closer to £68million to let their star man leave.
Sporting remains under pressure to sell due to financial woes, while Jorge Mendes being in the crowd for last night’s 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers definitely got people talking.
Lisbon are still keen on taking a United player either on loan or permanently as part of the deal, too. Although they weren’t interested in Joel Pereira, Marcos Rojo has been mooted as an option though the deal has its complications.
I know it’s easy for me to say, but United should just pay Sporting what they want and get this deal over the line as soon as possible…
All eyes will be on Sporting vs Benfica tomorrow night at 8:15pm to see whether Fernandes is involved – or whether he looks like a player who could be playing in his last game for the Primeira Liga outfit…
