Manchester United Football Club were well worth the three points at Stamford Bridge last night, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer winning all three games against Chelsea this season.
The Baby Faced Assassin’s players just seemed to want it more. From first minute right till last, we were first to the loose balls, defended with desire while leaving absolutely everything out on the turf. It really was great to see that fight.
As the game wore down, there was a special moment for Odion Ighalo, who’d make his United debut and become the first-ever Nigerian to don the famous Reds jersey. As you can see from the photos below, he looked extremely proud to be wearing the United kit for the first time.
I seriously thought he was about to find the back of the net and make it an even more memorable outing, too. He almost scored with one of his first touches which would have been the icing on the kick – however, it’s reassuring that he’s already getting into the right positions.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, but Ighalo brings something different to the table. When United need someone to hold the ball up and bring others into play, Solskjaer now has that option. Plus, it gives us an extra body going into the portion of the season where the Reds will be playing multiple games every week.
