David de Gea – Couldn’t do anything about the goals. At this point, I feel sorry for the Spaniard as the defence in front of him was utter dross. Made a smart save to deny Mahrez. 6/10
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Did a decent job in one-on-ones against Sterling, though he did lose his man on a few too many occasions. 4/10
Phil Jones – I get that Ole’s hands were tied due to injury but christ, he was awful. Slow and positionally unaware. Simply put, just not good enough. 2/10
Victor Lindelof – Back to the nervous wreck that he was during his first season. Got absolutely ripped to shreds by a potent City front line. Just clueless. 2/10
Brandon Williams – I love the fight this young man shows despite the adversity. Not his finest outing but he’ll learn from it. 5/10
Andreas Pereira – Continues to struggle. Outclassed, outworked and outfought by Kevin de Bruyne et al. 3/10
Fred – Showed his tenacity and grit, though lacked the on-ball quality. United’s need for a new midfielder only grows. 4/10
Jesse Lingard – Hooked at HT and rightly so. His passing was sloppy, he looked scared in possession and didn’t do anything positive whatsoever. 2/10
Daniel James – Showed a great turn of pace but didn’t get the opportunity to counter-attack all too often. Looked lethargic at times. Perhaps he needs a rest. 4/10
Marcus Rashford – Took his goal nicely. Kept fighting even at 3-0 down. 5/10
Mason Greenwood – A tough night as he barely touched the ball due to dominant City possession. Played his part in Rashford’s goal, though, with a lovely assist. 5/10
Nemanja Matic – Made the midfield much tougher and eased the pressure on the defence. Changed the game. Well played.
Angel Gomes – Had to drop far too deep to get on the ball.
Anthony Martial – Not enough time to mark.
