Player Ratings: Manchester United 4-0 West Ham – Magnificent Matic

David de Gea – Didn’t really have an awful lot to do. Distributed well, and left a positive impact on the defence. 6/10

Antonio Valencia – Buccaneered up and down that right-hand side all day long. Fantastic performance. 7/10

Eric Bailly – Absolute monster. He was first to every ball, and shut down Chicharito’s goal scoring threat. 7/10

Phil Jones – Whisper it quietly, but he was superb against West Ham. Won tackles, passed the ball out well and put his head on everything. Top drawer display. 7/10

Daley Blind – He’s just not a left-back, but on the whole, he put in a decent performance. Although, I’d like someone who is slightly more attack-minded to  play. 5/10

Nemanja Matic – A monster. Defensively, he just didn’t give West Ham a sniff. 8/10

Paul Pogba – Scored a goal to close off proceedings. He drifted in and out of things, but when he was involved, you just felt like United would be a threat. 7/10

Juan Mata – Quietly went about his business but he still makes the Red Devils tick. His creative genius came to the fore when West Ham began to tire. 6/10

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Picked up a couple of assists in a performance that will shape his season. Expecting big things from him this year. 6/10

Marcus Rashford – Played out on the left-wing, but he was a joy to watch. That ball he played into Lukaku for the opener was out of this world. Stunning. 7/10

Romelu Lukaku – If we’re being picky, he probably should have had a hat-trick. However, a brace will do. What a performance from the £75million man who looks at home already. 8/10

Marouane Fellaini – Didn’t really get into the game.

Anthony Martial – Scored and assisted within about 10 minutes. He really sent a message to Jose Mourinho.

Jesse Lingard – Not enough time to mark.
