France international Pogba has long been on Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane’s wish list as he continues to rebuild his squad for the new season.
So far this summer the former Ballon d’Or winner has brought in Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, and Rodrygo, for close to £275m.
And, according to Spanish publication Marca, Zidane is planning to offload no fewer than five stars in order to raise the £200m it may take to land Pogba.
Dani Ceballos, Marco Asensio and Isco, as well as Bale and Rodriguez are on the transfer list, according to the report.
Both Isco and Asensio have been put on the market at £72m apiece, and there is likely to be no shortage of takers for both.
Arsenal are interested in signing Ceballos, but other clubs could come in for him as the window draws to a close.
Rodriguez is back in Madrid after his two-year loan deal at Bayern Munich and may be more difficult to ship out.
The Colombia international has said he would like to stay in Spain and rumours about a move to Atletico Madrid could be perfect for him.
The one major issue with the Pogba plan is how Real are going to offload Bale.
The Wales international earns £600,000-per-week and has three years left on his current deal.
And he is showing no signs that he is up for a move way from the Bernabeu.
Even getting rid of him and still paying some of his wages in a loan deal could potentially work for Los Blancos but they would much prefer to get rid of him for good.
Earlier this summer, Pogba revealed he is ready for a “new challenge” and has previously stated that he would love to work with compatriot Zidane one day.
Manchester United are unlikely to want to budge for anything less than £150m to sell Pogba, however.
The Red Devils paid £89m for him to return from Juventus three years ago and in today’s inflated market will demand much more.
