The Belgian continues to be linked with a move to the Serie A outfit.
But Inter are yet to meet United’s valuation of the player.
Lukaku will not feature against the Italian side this weekend due to the injury.
And former United striker Dimitar Berbatov has urged his attacking counterpart to stay at Old Trafford, mainly because Solskjaer can help him improve at the club.
“I think he should stay,” Berbatov told Sky Sports.
“I like him, I don’t agree with all the criticism he’s getting.
“Yes he has some areas which he need to work like every other player.
“But his teammates need to help him as well.
“For example if I’m a midfield player and I play with him, I will know how to pass him the ball, when to pass him the ball, on which foot to pass him the ball.
“This is what your teammates need to know, how to play with you.
“I think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a good coach for him because if Lukaku wants to ask the coach something, he can go and ask him, because Solskajer was a good striker.
“So if you need striker’s advice, you go to the coach.”
Inter boss Antonio Conte has already heaped praise on Lukaku.
And the former Chelsea boss admitted on Friday that he wants a deal to materialise.
“You know I like this player,” said Conte.
“In the past when I was Chelsea’s coach [from 2016 to 2018] I tried to bring him to Chelsea.
“As I said before, I like this player and consider him an important player for us to have a good improvement but at the same there is a transfer market.
“We know very well which is our situation at the moment and we will see what happens but for now Lukaku is a United player.”
