Ryan Giggs reveals HILARIOUS reason he hated Arsenal legend

The rivalry between the two clubs between the late 1990s and early 2000s is well documented as Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger battled for domestic supremacy.

Giggs has admitted he had personal reasons for disliking a host of stars including Patrick Vieira, Dennis Bergkamp and Robert Pires.

But it is the Welshman’s reason for loathing French midfielder Petit that is particularly interesting.

“I didn’t like Arsenal,” he told the Daily Mail.

“I didn’t like Vieira because he was dirty and got away with murder.

“I didn’t like Petit because he had long hair.

“I didn’t like Bergkamp.

‘I didn’t like Pires even though when you meet him now he’s actually dead nice.

In other Arsenal news:

“I wouldn’t even look at them, didn’t know them and didn’t want to.

“I wouldn’t allow myself to rate any of them.

“Berkgamp? Nah, I told myself he wasn’t as good as Eric Cantona.

“I wasn’t really that kind of person. It wasn’t really me but you had to get that in your head, that intense dislike.

“It was pure motivation. But deep down we knew.

“They were top drawer and that rivalry was everything to us. Deeper even than at that time.”

Giggs went into coaching after hanging up his boots in 2014.

He is currently in charge of Wales, who kick off their Euro 2020 qualification campaign against Slovakia this afternoon (2pm).
