Although pre-season has gone excellently for Manchester United so far, there’s still much work ahead for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – particularly in the transfer market.
The club are yet to replace Marouane Fellaini or Ander Herrera, while midfield names aplenty have been linked with Old Trafford moves during this window.
Amongst those names is Bruno Fernandes. However, Sky Sports News say that United are ‘unlikely’ to sign the prolific 24-year-old midfielder this summer.
Apparently, the Sporting Lisbon man has been scouted by United, but he is not a priority signing at this time.
I still find it absurd that the midfielder scored 32 goals last season, while also tacking on 18 assists for his teammates. For me, the fact that United don’t see him as a priority signing right now is telling. In my opinion, perhaps the club sees him as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba – who is now looking more and more likely to stay at Old Trafford during this window.
With just two weeks left until deadline day, time is rapidly running out for United to invest in this playing squad. Fernandes may not be the man, but this midfield needs work, as does the defence and the right-wing.
Here’s to hoping that Edward Woodward has a busy fortnight…
