Back in October, we covered a story which stated that Manchester United was considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain star-striker, Edinson Cavani.
This morning, Sky Sports News ran a story in which it was claimed the reported United target hands in a transfer request and he wants to leave the French capital this month.
Cavani, now 32, has scored 195 goals in 269 appearances for the Ligue 1 Champions and although there are only six months left on his current deal, he wants out right now.
With Marcus Rashford out injured for at least the next six weeks, and United now looking supremely thin up top, surely this one is an absolute no-brainer?
The 20-time Premier League champions need help with just Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial as the only fit strikers, why not bring in someone as prolific as Cavani on a short-term deal?
There would be little-to-no transfer fee due to his age, though he’ll probably command a hefty wage. Simply put, Cavani knows where the back of the net is. Plus he’d bring some much-needed experience to a young dressing room.
Sure, it’s not worth completely getting away from what Solskjaer is trying to build but if the Baby Faced Assassin thinks he’s good enough, then why not take the risk? He’s seemingly at least somewhat interested in signing the Uruguayan and it makes sense to at least explore the possibility a little bit further given the Rashford situation.
