Solskjaer sends personal scout to watch 22yo winger, player valued at £60million: report

Manchester United Football Club are definitely a side on the up, with the astute addition of Bruno Fernandes helping the Red Devils move forwards.

However, when the summer rolls around, the Old Trafford outfit mustn’t rest on their laurels. More work and more signings are required to compete at the business end of the premiere competitions.

Today, a new name has been thrown into the mix; Federico Chiesa, son of former Italy forward Enrico.

The story comes from the Daily Mail, who state that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has sent his personal scout, Simon Wells, to watch the 22-year-old winger in action. Sports Mail ‘understand’ that Wells was in attendance as AFC Fiorentina drew 1-1 with AC Milan last weekend, as he kept a watchful eye on the talented Italian.

Wells reports directly to Solskjaer and it is thought that United are keeping tabs on Chiesa ahead of a proposed summer move.

The winger is valued at around £60million and has already made 17 caps for his country.

What’s also interesting is that Chiesa is already taking English lessons, with United’s interest piquing following the forward scoring four times in his last five games.

The Reds wouldn’t have it all their own way, though, with Juventus also keen on Chiesa, who is under contract until 2022.

Another big selling point is his versatility. This is a young man who can play all across the front three, though he does prefer to start on the right-hand side – which is probably United’s biggest area of need right now…
