Superstar 26-year-old's chances of sealing transfer away from Man United remote: report

Manchester United have had a busy summer transfer window thus far, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signing two players while getting several key faces to commit to new contracts.

Another name who is looking increasingly likely to stay is David de Gea. We covered a story from the BBC, who state that the Spaniard is close to signing a new, long-term Red Devils contract.

Well, that report was also backed up by The Guardian. However, what’s interesting about their article is an update on Paul Pogba’s future. They write that the superstar 26-year-old’s hopes of leaving United during this transfer window are ‘becoming remote’ as no official bids have yet been made for the Frenchman.

With the August 8th transfer deadline closing in pretty quickly now, United would be struggling to sell Pogba and find a replacement for both the Frenchman and Ander Herrera (who they’re yet to replace).

The Guardian also confirm that Real Madrid are still keen on signing the World Cup winner, although their valuation doesn’t come close to matching United’s at this stage. Los Blancos see the midfielder worth around £100-120million, with the Reds wanting closer to £170million.

The story closes by stating that if Pogba stays, dressing room harmony could be affected which is obviously not a good thing.

I’m with United on this one. They shouldn’t be low-balled into selling a player with three years left on his deal. If the valuation isn’t met then it’s up to Pogba to get his head down and continue working hard. After all, the ball is in the court of the Old Trafford club at this point in time.

It will be interesting to see what materialises from this one, but right now, I think a large portion of the fans actually want him gone. I’m with them, but only if the price suits the Reds.
