'That's his position for me' Man United fans delighted with 21yo's top-drawer international display

Manchester United’s form has been truly horrific over the last couple of months. Sure, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s task hasn’t been helped by injuries decimating the squad, though the manager has to take some of the blame.

Anthony Martial is amongst those who has been missing recently, though he could well make his return against Liverpool this weekend. That has led to Marcus Rashford being deployed as the main striker – and although that is where he began his professional career, I’ve always felt that he often does his best work cutting in from the left-hand side.

Anyway, that’s where Rashford played for England last night, and barely 10 minutes into the game, United’s #10 proved us right to devastating effect.

Rashford beat his man before lashing a fierce effort past a hapless Bulgaria goalkeeper – giving England the lead in stunning fashion.

As you’d imagine, United fans took to Twitter in their droves to hail the 21-year-old’s performance – with some supporters in agreement that the Englishman should always be deployed over on the left.

The question that raises for me, though, is where does Daniel James play? The Wales international, like Rashford, isn’t anywhere near as effective on the right. I guess having squad depth is good, though Solskajer seriously needs to fix-up that other flank. Jadon Sancho, anyone…?
