The four players Man Utd have eyed to replace Paul Pogba

The four players Man Utd have eyed to replace Paul Pogba

Pogba is keen to depart United this summer following his second spell at the Premier League outfit.

Real Madrid remain interested in a mega-money deal for the Frenchman, despite the whopping £180m price tag placed on him by Old Trafford chiefs.

United have been linked with a whole host of potential replacements for Pogba this summer.

But who have Ed Woodward and his scouting team considered for the role so far?

Sean Longstaff

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plan to bring young, hungry players into the club has seen Newcastle’s Longstaff linked.

The 21-year-old Geordie has only enjoyed one season in the first team at St. James’ Park.

But Longstaff’s performances have seen him eyed as a top target for Solskjaer this summer.

Newcastle, however, are desperate to keep the midfielder – subsequently slapping a £50m price tag on him.

Bruno Fernandes

Fernandes looks set to become Solskjaer’s third signing of the summer.

The Sporting Lisbon star enjoyed such a solid season last term that his release clause stands at €100m (£90m).

United are likely to nab Fernandes for less than that.

But the two sides continue to negotiate a fee for the 24-year-old, who has remained coy over his future in recent days.

Ivan Rakitic

Barcelona’s box-to-box stalwart has been linked with moves to United and Inter Milan numerous times in recent seasons.

Rakitic’s future has been up in the air after the arrival of Ajax star Frenkie de Jong.

But despite United’s interest, the Croatian isn’t keen on a move to Old Trafford.

“My idea is very clear, I want to stay at Barca,” he said this week.

“[Transfer talk] is a situation I’m used to. It happened to me last year.”

Rabiot

Adrien Rabiot

Rabiot was heavily linked with almost all top six clubs in England this summer as his PSG contract ran down.

The Frenchman was a cheap alternative to Pogba in the eyes of United chiefs.

But Juventus pinched the wantaway midfielder, adding him to their impressive free transfer list in recent seasons.

Ander Herrera left United for PSG this summer, which led to many thinking Rabiot would move the other way.
