Manchester United’s season has only improved as the term has progressed. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer overcame initial struggles and now this Red Devils side is beginning to take shape.
Credit where it’s due, the Baby Faced Assassin has certainly stepped up to the plate when United needed him the most. Now, everyone involved with the Old Trafford club is reaping the rewards.
Perhaps Solskjaer’s biggest strength has been his work in the transfer market. Five signings have been made – all of had a positive impact. Now, it’s about getting things right going into an all-important summer…
The debate has been all about who United will sign in that creative role. The burden has been eased somewhat by the addition of Bruno Fernandes, though the Portuguese can’t do it all on his own.
Jack Grealish or James Maddison? Has been the most-asked question. I was a firm believer in the latter, though the Aston Villa man has been brilliant to watch this season – and my opinion is slowly starting to sway…
Well, Emile Heskey seems to think that Grealish is the answer for United, with the ex-pro-turned-pundit believing that the 24-year-old star will join United this summer. Heskey stated that Grealish ‘would do well’ at United, before adding that there is ‘every chance’ a deal could happen when the transfer window opens.
‘I think Jack Grealish would do well at Manchester United,’ Heskey told GentingBet.
‘He’s a commanding midfielder and the kind that they’ve missed recently. ‘They have it now in Fernandes but having another one alongside him who could drive from the midfield – that’s Jack all over.
‘But Jack can play in several different positions very well. He would do very well at Manchester United.’
‘There is every chance that Jack Grealish will join Man United in the summer. I don’t think that Jack will be at Villa come the end of the season.
‘He’s done a phenomenal job for them since he started out at the club. I played with him when I was at Villa, he was only a young lad, he used to come and train with us – he was a phenomenal player even then and he has gone from strength to strength.
I think what swings the pendulum in Grealish’s favour is the fact that he’s versatile. The Englishman can start in the #10 role or can play off the flank. Plus, he has that arrogance that you need to make it at the highest level. He’s a little like Cristiano Ronaldo (obviously not as talented, but heck, who is?) in that regard.
When you look at Villa hovering above the relegation zone, I’m not sure how much longer Grealish is going to stick around at Villa Park. United would offer him the platform to take his game to that next level, while the Reds would be getting one hell of a footballer.
I’d love this deal to happen, though I’d imagine there are several other interested parties. Hopefully, United are already laying the groundwork, because this would be an outstanding bit of business.
