'They are getting close to a reserve match' Solskjaer offers positive injury update on Man Utd duo

Manchester United’s squad has coped pretty well with serious injuries throughout this season, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his players close the gap on the top-four.

Suddenly, the Red Devils are looking in pretty good shape. The Baby Faced Assassin has Scott McTominay, Eric Bailly and several others back in training. Now, there’s some more good news on that front.

Solskjaer met the media ahead of tomorrow’s Club Brugge Europa League game, as he offered a positive injury update on another United duo – who are close to making their return for the reserves.

First up we have Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who has been sidelined since last April after suffering ligament damage. Then we have Axel Tuanzebe, who started this term brilliantly before going down with a mystery injury. It’s great to know that he’s finally close to returning.

“They (Tuanzebe & Fosu-Mensah) are getting close to a reserve match or a behind closed doors match. We need them to pay in that kind of games before we use them in a first team appearance.” Solskjaer told reporters, including the Manchester Evening News.

Tuanzebe is the key one. His versatility and leadership is pretty impeccable for one so young. You throw him and Bailly back into the mix and suddenly, United have four very good centre-halves they can call upon.

Fosu-Mensah is a bit of a wildcard. He’s obviously a talented young man, though injuries are beginning to take their toll on his career. I’m happy for the Dutchman to get one final chance on pre-season tour. If he impresses, keep him around as a squad player. If not, it’s probably time to shift him on.

Hopefully, these guys can get some all-important minutes under their belts and play some part in the all-important 2019/20 season run-in!
