Top Man United target tells club he wants to leave, want him as fourth summer signing: report
Barcelona FC have reportedly been told by Andre Gomes that he wants to leave the Camp Nou this summer, and speculation is growing that Manchester United want to make him their fourth summer signing. That’s what Corriere dello Sport write, translated by the Manchester Evening News.
Gomes, 24, was linked with a move to Manchester United earlier on in the window, and if that gossip was true, then this latest report about Gomes’ unhappiness certainly must be interesting to Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese midfielder was only signed by Barcelona just twelve months ago, and it’s fair to say that he struggled during his debut season with the Catalan giants.
Heck, the fact that he wants to move on already tells you everything you need to know about Gomes’ time with FC Barcelona, and this could be the perfect opportunity for Mourinho to swoop if he wants to bring in his countryman.
My worry is that, all of the sudden, our midfield area looks pretty loaded. Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba will be the starters most weeks, but on top of that, you have Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera and Michael Carrick which is some excellent depth.
However, the fact that Gomes is quite versatile and can play in numerous positions in the middle of the park may be the decisive factor. In my opinion. it would be somewhat of a gamble.
