- Tottenham have been offered Roma right back Alessandro Florenzi as a replacement for Kieran Trippier.
Maguire’s Man Utd plea
Manchester United are reportedly willing to make harry Maguire captain in order to push through his move from Leicester.
The England international is being pursued by both Manchester clubs in an £80m deal.
And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have an ace up his sleeve with Maguire said to have ‘ambitions to be United captain’.
The Sun report that despite coming through the ranks at boyhood club Sheffield United, the centre-back was actually a Manchester United fan who revered fellow defenders Steve Bruce and Rio Ferdinand, who both wore the armband during their Old Trafford careers.
Arsenal medical underway
Arsenal have sent a doctor to Brazil to finalise a deal for Gremio star Everton, according to reports.
Brazilian journalist Sergio Araujo claims the Gunners have sent a member of staff to conduct a medical for the Gremio star.
Everton shone during the Copa America and has already revealed that an offer is on the table.
Arsenal are believed to be willing to pay £25m up front, with a further £11m in add-ons.
Spurs eye deal
Tottenham have been offered £27m-rated Roma right back Alessandro Florenzi as a replacement for Kieran Trippier.
But Spurs will only consider a move for him if Serge Aurier follows Trippier out of the door.
England full back Trippier sealed a move to Atletico Madrid this week in a deal worth around £20m.
But Aurier’s future is also in doubt with the club listening to offers for the Ivory Coast international.
United abandoned De Ligt pursuit
Manchester United reportedly abandoned their pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt because they were convinced he was joining Barcelona.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate for a centre-back and United are ready to spend £75m on Leicester’s Harry Maguire.
The reported fee has raised eyebrows after Juventus snapped up De Ligt from Ajax for £67.5m earlier today.
United were linked with the Dutchman earlier in the window but reports suggested he had his heart set on a switch to Barcelona.
And according to Evening Standard reporter James Robson, Barca’s interest forced United to pull out of the race.
He tweeted: “United were convinced De Ligt was on his way to Barcelona and dropped their pursuit. Juve didn’t.”
Arsenal triple swoop
Arsenal have beaten Tottenham in the race to sign William Saliba – and he could be followed by two more signings.
A defender is high on their list of priorities but their pursuit of Saint-Etienne defender Saliba risked being hijacked by fierce rivals Spurs.
However, according to BBC reporter David Ornstein, the Frenchman has chosen Arsenal.
He tweeted: “Arsenal set to win race to sign William Saliba. Close to completion after Saint Etienne centre-back opted for #AFC.
“Loan back to #ASSE next season.
“Also working on loan for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos & continue pursuit of Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney.”
De Ligt done deal
Juventus have completed the signing of Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax for £67.5m.
The defender enjoyed a remarkable campaign last term, captaining the Dutch side to the Eredivisie title and the Champions League semi-final.
De Ligt has signed a five-year deal at the Italian giants after passing his medical yesterday.

£200m Man Utd plot
Real Madrid are reportedly plotting a sensational transfer plan to land Manchester United star Paul Pogba.
According to Spanish publication Marca, Zidane is planning to offload no fewer than five stars in order to raise the £200m it may take to land Pogba.
Dani Ceballos, Marco Asensio and Isco, as well as Bale and Rodriguez are on the transfer list, according to the report.
Both Isco and Asensio have been put on the market at £72m apiece, and there is likely to be no shortage of takers for both.
Arsenal are interested in signing Ceballos, but other clubs could come in for him as the window draws to a close.
Rodriguez is back in Madrid after his two-year loan deal at Bayern Munich and may be more difficult to ship out.
But Real may struggle to convince somebody to take Bale off their hands unless he lowers his wage demands.
£25m Arsenal warning
Celtic have got to sell Kieran Tierney to Arsenal and accept that £25m is fair money, according to former Rangers striker Kris Boyd.
“When the numbers are getting to the stage that they’re getting to, I know that Celtic will look at the English market and say ‘the players are going for…’, well I think they already said ‘Wan-Bissaka for £50m’,” he told Sky Sports News.
“But we all know the English market is inflated right now. Whether it continues is a different story.
“When you see Kieran Tierney there is no doubt there is a talented footballer there. “But I can’t see Celtic getting that type of money for him.
“I think if you’re getting towards the £20m-25m, then you’ve got to sell him. I think Celtic can be proud of what they’ve done, given him the opportunity to play at that level.”
Dembele to Liverpool?
Liverpool should sign Ousmane Dembele instead of Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona – to replace Roberto Firmino.
That’s the verdict of former Reds midfielder Danny Murphy, who said: “Dembele would be a fantastic signing for Liverpool.
He’s not had the best time at Barcelona, but clearly has an abundance of talent and the ability to win games by himself.
“If he can recapture his belief in his ability, then Liverpool would have a formidable front three with him, Mane and Salah.
“He’s not had the best time at Barcelona, but clearly has an abundance of talent and the ability to win games by himself.
“He’ll fight for his place week in week out and if you’re not giving your all on the pitch, then Firmino will be right there to take it.”
