Arsenal in Roma talks
Arsenal are in talks with super-agent Mino Raiola over a £31.1m deal for Roma ace Kostas Manolas.
Unai Emery is on the hunt for a new defender, and the Greece international fits the bill.
La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira wrote on Twitter: “Arsenal are really interested in signing Kostas Manolas, who is expected to cost €36M (termination clause) from Roma.
“Contacts ongoing between Gunners and his agent Mino Raiola.”
Man Utd agree personal terms with Swansea ace
Manchester United are set to complete their first signing of the summer after agreeing personal terms with Swansea winger Dan James.
The Red Devils have yet to strike a fee with the Championship side, but they’re a step closer to finalising a deal after sorting a pay packet with the Welsh ace.
Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol wrote on Twitter: “Daniel James set to become Manchester United’s first singing of the summer. Deal not done yet but will be soon. Personal terms agreed. Player wants to join United.”
James, who broke onto the scene following Swansea’s relegation to the Championship, saw a move to Leeds collapse in January.
Chelsea confirm contract
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has signed a one-year contract extension.
The World Cup winner’s deal was set to expire at the end of the season but the Blues’ impending transfer ban resulted in Stamford Bridge chiefs securing his future.
“I am very happy to sign a new contract,” he said. “I really wanted to stay at least one more year – I have felt a part of the team, the family, since the beginning and hopefully there will be more trophies to come.”
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia added: “We are very pleased that Olivier will be a Chelsea player for another season. Since joining us 18 months ago, he has at times had to be patient and wait for opportunities, but has still been able to make a positive contribution to the team.”
Liverpool end striker interest
Liverpool have ended their initial interest in Celta Vigo hotshot Maxi Gomez.
A host of Premier League clubs are keen on the Celta Vigo man – with Tottenham understood to be frontrunners.
They want Gomez as Harry Kane’s understudy, and could get a clear run at the player with Liverpool now out of the running.
West Ham were keen in January, but the lure of playing Champions League football in north London could end the Hammers’ hopes.
Wan-Bissaka to Man Utd?
Manchester United are bidding to reach an agreement with Crystal Palace over Aaron Win-Bissaka.
The Red Devils are set to step up their pursuit for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-choice right-back target.
The plan once an agreement is reached with Palace is to then discuss personal terms with Wan-Bissaka.
The Red Devils hope to persuade Palace to sell and must then convince the England Under-21 international his future lies at Old Trafford.
Arsenal eye four signings
Arsenal boss Unai Emery has demanded four new signings this summer.
Football London claim there are some specific positions that Emery wants.
It is claimed that Emery is demanding a new left-back, a centre-back, an Aaron Ramsey replacement and a wide forward.
A host of names have been linked including Nicolas Tagliafico, Djene Dakonam, Adrien Rabiot and Ryan Fraser.
Fraser to Liverpool?
Liverpool have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Ryan Fraser from Bournemouth, according to The Sun.
Fraser enjoyed a stunning season for the Cherries, scoring seven times in the Premier League and providing 14 assists.
The winger is out of contract next summer and with no sign of him looking to extend, Bournemouth are considering cashing in to avoid losing him for free.
Arsenal have also been linked and are reportedly prepared to pay £30m for the Scot.
Chelsea new boy Christian Pulisic has arrived at Stamford Bridge.
Pulisic sealed a £58m move to the Blues in January but saw out the rest of the season with Borussia Dortmund.
He was snapped at Stamford Bridge wearing the team’s strip for the first time.
Pulisic faces the daunting task of replacing Real Madrid-bound Eden Hazard.
Bale back to Premier League?
Real Madrid star Gareth Bale is ‘very likely’ to return to the Premier League this summer.
According to Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda, the 29-year-old is likely to end up at either Liverpool or Tottenham.
“Bale has spent the day playing golf at La Moraleja,” Inda said.
“And it is very likely that he will reach either of the two finalists in the Champions League, Tottenham or Liverpool.
“That operation would be accompanied by Eriksen plus a quantity of money.”
