Just yesterday, it looked as though Manchester United Football Club were still undecided on whether to renew Nemanja Matic’s Red Devils contract.

Just a day later, Solskjaer confirms that the key United midfielder has now agreed a new deal – although the length of which currently remains unclear…

It’s great news that Matic will be sticking around. He has proven his worth in Scott McTominay’s injury absence, at a time where I actually thought his career at Old Trafford was done and dusted…

Whether this is the one-year extension, which is likely, or fresh terms completely, remains to be seen. No doubt we’ll hear something official in the not too distant future.

It just gives Solskjaer one less problem to worry about going into the summer. Now, the Baby Faced Assassin can focus on adding that world-class right-winger, or potentially replacing Paul Pogba. Matic offers some stability.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Serb in the team to take on City in the derby today. We’re definitely going to need him to protect the back four during this one…
