What Man Utd will offer Bruno Fernandes per week after making £49m bid

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate for fresh faces this summer as he looks to bounce back from a disappointing end to the campaign.

Manchester United missed out on Champions League football as they finished sixth in the Premier League.

The Red Devils have been keen to fix their problem positions and they moved quickly to snap up Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James to strengthen their right-hand side.

A deal for Harry Maguire looks to be edging closer and Solskjaer is also keen to bring in a midfielder, with Fernandes his priority target.

The Portuguese scored 32 times last season and he’s seen as the ideal replacement for Paul Pogba, who has been linked with an exit.

Manchester City and Liverpool are also believed to be eyeing Fernandes.

But according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, United have made the first move.

He tweeted: “Manchester United insist and want to close for Bruno Fernandes.

Portuguese publication Correio da Manha claim Fernandes currently earns €3m per year, which works out at around £56,000-a-week.

So a switch to Old Trafford could see him earn a hefty pay rise, taking him up to a six-figure weekly income.

Fernandes reportedly has a release clause of €80m (£72m) and Sporting would prefer to reach a deal closer to that figure.

But they could be prepared to compromise if the 24-year-old wants to leave.

Correio da Manha also claim that Fernandes has a clause in his contract that entitles him and his agent to a huge pay out if Sporting reject any offer above €35m (£31.5m).

The clause would see the playmaker’s wages doubled, while his agent would receive €5m (£4.5m).
