Manchester United need a new right-back. For me, that’s the most pressing matter that simply has to be addressed this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has targeted Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with United seeing a £40million bid already rejected for the Englishman.
Anyway this morning, journalist Sam Pilger has offered an extremely positive update. He says that United are ‘determined’ to sign the 21-year-old Wan-Bissaka this summer, with the club ‘likely’ to return with an offer of £50million in the ‘coming days’.
Apparently, that £50m bid ‘should be accepted’ by Crystal Palace, with the player wanting the move to happen.
The fee and the fact that Wan-Bissaka wants the move to happen goes in line with a story we covered from Sky Sports earlier. It does seem as this saga is picking up pace pretty quickly.
Wan-Bissaka enjoyed a stunning debut season in 2018/19, emerging as one of the best right-backs in the country due to his defensive astuteness, excellent motor and brilliant positional awareness.
The 21-year-old would be a marked upgrade on anyone United have in that area of the field, and in this day and age, £50million would be more than worth it – particularly when you could get ten years of service from the Croydon-born defender.
It seems like a no-brainer to me… What do you reckon?
