Manchester United and Antoine Griezmann went back and forth about a possible transfer almost two years ago now. However, that saga could be about to come to the fore once again.
That’s according to Spanish media outlet Sport. They say that the world-class 27-year-old has put himself up for transfer, with Manchester United leading the way – just ahead of Bayern Munich.
Griezmann is brilliant, there’s no getting away from that. He’s an enigmatic player who’d single-handedly put us in a far better position to win major honours.
However, it was only last summer when the Frenchman put pen to paper on a new contract with Atletico Madrid – so he’d cost a pretty penny, that’s only if the Spanish giants would be willing to part with him at all.
United should break the bank to get him. Partnering Griezmann with Paul Pogba certainly seems like the stuff of dreams, particularly due to Griezmann’s incredible versatility.
There is no doubt that United would face huge competition to acquire the Frenchman, however, but I don’t think anyone in England can go toe-to-toe with us in terms of transfer fee and weekly wage. That definitely gives us an edge and one we should look to use to our advantage.
